Installing new kitchen countertops is a fun and easy way to refresh your current kitchen. With so many material and color choices out there you can really showcase your own personal design style. Whether it’s color and pattern or durability and maintenance that is driving your decision there are enough options available now that you are sure to find something perfect for you. Here is a helpful rundown of some of the options available today:
Granite: Being 100% natural granite has a very one of a kind feel to it. It’s available in an immeasurable amount of colors and patterns. Granite is very strong and durable but can be chipped if abused. Regular sealing is required.
Quartz: The best thing about Quartz is because it’s man-made it is virtually maintenance free. It’s non porous, anti-microbial and stain resistant. Colors and patterns are more uniform, making it a great choice if multiply slabs are needed to complete your project. However, it is not recommended for outdoor use as it can discolor with extended exposure to UV.
Soapstone: The durability of soapstone is comparable to granite and quartz and it is not affected by heat. It is non porous, stain resistant and requires no sealing. However regular maintenance with mineral oil is recommended to keep the sheen of the soapstone. It has only slight veining in some pieces and a very limited color range.
